We were recently sent the Kids Only Cookbook by Sue Quinn to review.
It is a really lovely cookbook full of lots of fun and easy recipes which Little Mr A has loved looking through and picking some out to cook. As it was his Dad's birthday this week he wanted to make him a chocolate cake and something nice for his birthday tea - you can see what he chose to make in our short video below!
I am really impressed with this book. It is very well laid out for children to be able to read with lots of pictures and not too many words. At the start of the book there are lots of useful pages showing what utensils you will need, how to chop vegetables so as not to chop any fingers off (one I should pay attention to myself!) and then two pages telling you how to cook pasta and rice.
The recipes themselves are very easy to follow and written in small chunks, each with it's own picture so that children will find it much easier to keep up with. There are lots of different recipes to choose from for all mealtimes and I'm sure there will be plenty for everyone to enjoy!
Although Little Mr A needed help with the recipes, I was really impressed with how well he managed to follow the instructions and how much of the cooking he could do himself. I think in a couple of years he would easily be able to do some of the recipes all by himself.
Overall I would recommend this book to anyone with children who enjoy baking and cooking!
You can see how much fun Little Mr A had with the book in our video below...
This video shows you how much fun you can have making the Tin Can Ice-Cream recipe in the book - it's definitely one we want to try, as soon as we find a can to make it in!
