Listen: The Bar-Kays – “Too Hot To Stop (Part 1)” (from YouTube)
From Too Hot To Stop : 1976 : Mercury Records
While The Bar-Kays were well past their Stax Records years by the time Too Hot To Stop came out in 1976, they still knew how to handle some serious funky rhythms – even if now that funk was much heavier and clearly influenced by contemporaries like Parliament, James Brown and Earth, Wind & Fire. The title track is pure 1970′s funk heaven, with swirling keyboards and horns complementing funky drums and guitar. They don’t make ‘em like this anymore.
