Listen to New Whimsical Cut from Youth Lagoon’s Sophomore Lp [stream]

Boise’s Trevor Powers won us over with the sparse, sincere pop ballads that made up his incredible debut LP, The Year of Hibernation. There was something in that record of a mere eight tracks that possessed a childlike wonder. Equally unintelligible and innocent, Power’s vocals created a universally relatable narrative. With Youth Lagoon’s follow LP, Wondrous Bughouse, due out March 5 via Fat Possum we get a second taste of the fantastical record with the newest cut, “Mute.” At around six-minutes, “Mute” is a story in itself, (d)evolving so naturally you barely notice it happening.  Sonically, “Mute” is far from the vintage keyboard driven Year of Hibernation, but rather something to the tune of Animal Collective on cough syrup. Wait, Animal Collective is on cough syrup you say?  Never mind. Stream the new track below.
