I sit pretty much in the middle with lipstick - whilst I love it, and think it is perfect for special occasions, I feel it is too much for me to wear everyday and most of the time a slick of lip balm is the most that I want. Easier to touch up, and I know it isn't going to have ended up all over my face by the end of the day.
But sometimes, when a bold, matte red lip is too much, and nothing is too little, there has to be a compromise. Recently, I've found that using a lip pencil and lip liner can really give a natural finish that complements the rest of my makeup, whilst bringing the makeup look together and finishing it all off. It also has the added bonus of slightly correcting wonky lips, making them look fuller and adding a nice color to them. The lip pencil that I'm using is a new addition to my stash (found here) and is perfect for using with this look because it blends perfectly with my natural lip colour, meaning no unsightly 90's lines. The matte, waxy finish helps it cling around for ages meaning no worries about makeup mishaps, plus, I'm pretty sure it's a much cheaper dupe for Charlotte Tilbury's Lip Cheat in Pink Venus! With the addition of a swipe of Revlon's Pink Cognito to even out the color and blend the whole look together, it makes for the perfect, simple pout look.
