Like Father, Like Daughter?

By Bigdaddycarlos @BigDaddyBlogger

It has been asserted on many a bumper sticker and coffee mug that M.K. Gandhi once said:

“Be the change you wish to see in the world.”

Despite the fact that this is not quite what Gandhi said, the gist here is about leading by example.

I find the concept to be self-evident. As such, it issues to me the greatest challenge, with the highest stakes, that I have ever encountered.

I do not want Evie to have to deal with the health issues that plague her father. I do not want her life circumscribed by such things if it can be avoided. Yet the most powerful tool to achieve this requires that I stop taking the path of least resistance. It demands that I be the example I would like my daughter to emulate.

Damn.
