*This post is sponsored by Jewellery Box, all opinions are my own*Yup, I admit it. I have been completely harsh on myself about my 'resolutions' for the New Year. I don't want to completely change who I am...
I think it is so easy for us to look at ourselves and make a list internally of all those things that we'd like to change. One by one we go through our own little checklist of the body parts or attributes that we wouldn't mind doing something about.
It's all, 'slim my thighs' this and 'stop being so miserable' that.
But, to be completely honest, I don't think it's a bad thing. I mean, as long as you have got a positive mindset to go along side it, instead of a negative one, I actually think resolutions can be quite refreshing. A kind of happy, smiley kick up the backside!
I've said on social media recently, as have a lot of others, that 2017 is going to be the year of self-love. I think I'm going to have to dedicate a whole other blog post to that ol' chestnut because this girl, right here, has a lot to say.
But today is about looking in the mirror (quite literally by those photos!) and reminding myself of those positives, the 'good things in life'...
What do I love about myself? I really admire my determination and motivation, once I have something set in my mind, you bet your bottom dollar I'm gonna try and find some way to do it. I always try to go with my gut instinct in situations and the majority of the time, it turns out for the best. My Grandma has mentioned it to me a couple of times, that I never fail to see the positive in a negative situation and I don't let setbacks set-me-back.
What have I learnt over the past year? I learnt and put into practice the notion of surrounding yourself with positive people and those who make you, the best version of you. I found that being around negative people really brought my mood down so I now know when to remove myself from situations that aren't good for me. I have found a bunch of people who make me feel completely comfortable, and that's what I'm focusing on.
What am I proud of? I am proud of numerous things. I'm proud of my ability to stick with blogging for another year (I love this thing), I'm proud of keeping my head held high when things go a little bit topsy turvy, and I'm proud of not being so consumed by social media. I realised that it's totally okay to take some time away and live a normal, social-media free life sometimes!
I am special in my own way, and so are you. We're all beautifully different and that makes each and every one of us interesting. Let 2017 be the year you highlight your positives and realising you don't have to change for nobody either.
A huge thank you to Jewellery Box for asking me to consider the positive aspects of me and help me understand that I don't need to change for anyone. (and for also always keeping my jewelry game on tip-top!).
