“What I do now has been a trait of the women in my family for generations,” Lakesha told Goedeker’s in an interview. “I come from a very long line of cooks and entertainers. My great grandmother was the neighborhood baker, she entertained every Saturday night on beautiful china, made her own wine and grew her own vegetables. I have developed my skills over the years by reading cook books like novels, being inspired  when I dine out and when I travel I make a point to take cooking classes.  So far I have taken classes in France at Le Cordon Bleu, Tuscany, Bordeaux and Capri.”

As she traveled, Lakesha learned to incorporate the local culture from each place into better living.

“I had a great opportunity to live in different parts of Europe, Asia and Caribbean from the age of 21-25,” said Lakesha. “Each country I visited I had to learn to cook with the local ingredients and would immerse myself in the beauty of the country. I would spend lots of time visiting design stores and antique markets. Even now during my abroad travels I still comb local design stores and talk to the locals… that speak English.”

Lakesha adds that she draws her inspiration from life itself. “We love and are inspired by what fuels our senses,” she explains. “So when you come to my home I make it my mission to make sure all of your senses are met so you will remember your visit and want to come back.”

As for herself, Lakesha says she draws the most enjoyment from helping and teaching others. The biggest personal rewards come for her “When family, friends and clients are happy. Nothing makes me more joyful when I do something to help someone and it makes them feel good.”
