I know lots of people have already started getting into the festivities. Christmas films, wrapping presents, eating ALL the mince pies (very jealous of this bit). I have already started Christmas shopping. In fact, I'm very proud of myself as I'm almost finished! But the beginning of November is a little early for us to start getting festive for Christmas 2019. Especially as we had a city break planned for mid-month.
Now we're back from Barcelona (posts coming very soon!), we're totally ready to embrace the run-up to Christmas and everything it brings with it. Here are the things we're most looking forward to...
Mince Pies
I absolutely love mince pies! I had my first of the season today, and it's set to be the first of many (do tell me your faves in the comments!). But it's not just the mince pies, it's all the Christmas treats. I can't wait to get stuck into the Lebkuchen (that soft iced ginger cookie), Christmas cake and chocolate.
Cosy nights in
On the note of chocolate, it's the season for festive hot chocolate, all snuggled up on the sofa. Spiked with Irish cream or blackcurrant liqueur, and topped with marshmallows. Fairy lights on, sat having a laugh or cosied up watching your fave Christmas films. As much as I love an evening out, trying a new restaurant, I also love a night in with this one.
Christmas jumpers
You might have noticed our jumpers. Yes, the Christmas jumpers are out! I giggle every time I look at Chris'. We can't resist a Christmas jumper. Especially a cosy one, with a funny print - they're the best.
Ours are from I Want One of Those and they fit so well! These are definitely going to be a staple wardrobe item this year, for those nights in, a mulled wine at the local, Christmas Jumper day, and to stay cosy on those wintery walks. You can get 30% off at IWOOT using the code CHLOEXMAS - they have some awesome options (we wanted so many!), and there's free delivery when you spend over £30.
Christmas Lights
Wintery, Christmas walks wouldn't be the same without light spotting. London is truly stunning at all times of year. But even more so, when lit up for Christmas! It's twinkly, beautiful. One of my fave things to do at this time of year is a wander round central to see all the different lights from oxford street, to Carnaby and kingly court, to Piccadilly. Can't wait to see what's up for Christmas 2019.
Christmas Baking
I do love an excuse to bake. Whether it's for an extra little gift, office treats or just for Chris and I to indulge in. I've always got back into baking over the festive season and expect this year to be no different. Keep your eyes peeled for what I whip up this year.
An excuse to eat all the cheese.. and the other food.
It's not just the treats which make Christmas what it is. It's all the festive food. All the cheese boards - fruity wensleydale, blue, brie and dippy Camembert! The cranberry sauce, pigs in blankets, and yes even sprouts! We just love it all!
Family time!
But one of the most important things for both of us at this time of year, is seeing the family.
Last year, Chris' family were away in St. Lucia so he spent Christmas with me - I was very lucky! For Christmas 2019, it'll be a little different as we're spending it with our own families. Chris will be visiting for a few days before and I'll be joining him down in Hastings after. We'll get plenty of time with or own families and each others - lots of time to celebrate together, which is the real point of Christmas.. being together! Probably in our Christmas jumpers 😉
SO SO much to look forward to over the next five and a half weeks (and this isn't even taking into account Chris' birthday secret).
What are you looking forward to this season?
Chloe xx
