Life’s Transitions: When the Writing Slows Down

By Writerinterrupted @writerinterrupt

Sometimes interruptions in life bring about transition. Sometimes the transitions are welcomed like a new baby or bigger home, other times they are devastating like the loss of a job or loved one. As a writer…interrupted, it’s inevitable that life’s transition may cause us to slow down on writing. It may even seem like writing has taken a back seat, or more accurately, you left it on the curb.

So what’s a writer to do when life’s interruptions and transitions threaten your writing goals?

Slow Down: This writing gig isn’t a race. You’ll get there when you get there.

Reevaluate: You may have to forgo your normal writing routines and conferences to deal with life. And that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Remember, interruptions are sometimes God’s way of getting us back on track.

Accept: You won’t be able to do it all. And that’s okay. Do what you can and enjoy the process. Sometimes that’s more important that the final product.
