LG to Make Ultra HD Rollable TVs by 2017 with New Flexible OLED Panels

The prototype display LG unveiled was a OLED panel with a thin polyamide film on the back, boasting a resolution of 1,200 x 810. LG plans to improve this technology in the next couple of years and develop flexible TV with Ultra HD resolution by 2017. The company also showed off a transparent OLED Panel with 30% transmittance.

“We are confident that by 2017, we will successfully develop an Ultra HD flexible and transparent OLED panel of more than 60 inches, which will have transmittance of more than 40 percent and a curvature radius of 100R, thereby leading the future display market,” said Senior Vice President and Head of the R&D Center at LG Display.
