All high-end LCD display fans, be prepared, for LG has sent a press release presenting the first Quad HD display!
For those unfamiliar with the term Quad HD, here’s an explanation- Quad HD display has a resolution four times higher than one referred to a normal HD display. The display LG presented has a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and a screen size of 5.5 inches, with a record- breaking 558 ppi. The thickness of the panel is only 1.21 mm while the frame is just 1.2 mm thick. We could easily say there’s even no frame present.
World’s First qHD LCD Screen
LG claims that their display is based on a low temperature poly-silicon substrate (LTPS), allowing it to achieve a very high level of brightness, even 430 nits, and still remain slim and cool. This new LG LCD display with Advanced High Performance IPS (AH-IPS) is 12% thinner than the one found inside LG G2, which is yet to come. Thanks to this technology, we can expect even thinner smartphones in the future.
The only question left for the LG company is when to expect this magnificent display smartphone ? It’s hard to say, but certainly not before 2014.
