Song Preservation Society – Love Me Like She Did SoundCloud

Are you one of those people who have specific albums that get constant play during certain seasons? I am, and in the fall it’s a whole lot of Simon and Garfunkel, Iron & Wine, and Nick Drake. Earthy, warm vibes do well to insulate and keep me company while in my pre-hibernation phase, but it turns out there’s another record I need to add to my fall rotation: Song Preservation Society’s debut EP, Ready Room.

Referencing the likes of Simon and Garfunkel, Big Star, and Fleet Foxes in their band bio, it’s safe to say Ready Room will feel right at home amongst your oldies and throwback favorites. Sticking to the basics, Song Preservation Society draw delicate vocals and dulcet harmonies to the forefront of their honest sound which is backed by actual instruments that people are playing — no synths or samples needed here. At their roots, you’ll find California as we all imagine it post 1950′s — free-spirited escapism and poetic sensitivity are kept intact and irresistible for those of us who yearn to be from the days when rock was a newborn genre. All comparisons aside, this is just straightforward, real music that makes me feel good to my core. I would say they’re “a breath of fresh air”, but that would be cliche, so I won’t…

Song Preservation Society is making music that I want to fill my living room and fall season, and, if Ready Room is any indication, many seasons to come. If you haven’t yet, give them a listen beginning with “Love Me Like She Did”, and, if you dig (and you will!), you’re going to have to download the EP to hear my favorite track, “You Can’t Stop Me From Trying”.
