Let me begin with a confession - I detest and despise the Olympic games! I think I may have mentioned that before but, and even I am surprised at this, I now find I detest and despise them even more. This time my ire is aimed at the forthcoming winter Olympics which, apart from the fact that I don't understand most of the senseless 'sports' involved, is also being held in the homeland of 'Vlad the Impaler'. He has seen to it that some draconian laws have been rammed through what passes for a 'parliament' in Mother Russia aimed at making life even more difficult and dangerous for homosexuals. The fact that 'Vlad' takes every opportunity to strip off and flex his pecs in public is, of course, deeply Freudian and therefore quite beyond my understanding but (taps side of nose and winks) one has one's suspicions!
Over recent decades the Olympics have sunk ever deeper into the midden made of their own evacuations and with their latest extrusion strained for over two votes they may finally have filled the pit. They have elected Thomas Bach, an anti-Semitic German, to be their new Obersturmführer President. This nasty bit of work, according to Jonathan S. Tobin at Commentary, spent much of his working life as a lawyer and as chairman of:
Ghorfa, the Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry. That
sounds innocuous enough. But rather than just a straight-forward promoter of
trade between Germany and the Arab world, as the Times of Israel reports, according to the American Jewish Committee’s Berlin Ramer Institute, Ghorfa was actually set up in the 1970s in order to facilitate the boycott of Israel.
He has been heavily involved in Olympic affairs since winning a gold medal for fencing in the 1970s. It is worth repeating Tobin's report that the very first call he received after winning the presidency was from 'Vlad the Impaler' no doubt anxious that the IOC will not make waves at the winter Olympics when any homosexual athletes or visitors will have to tiptoe across the minefield of Mother Russia's purity laws! I don't think he will have any trouble with Bach, a man who has consistently supported the refusal of the IOC to make any public gesture in memory of the Israeli athletes butchered, with evil irony, at the Olympic games - in Munich - where else?
As of now this blog and its two and a half readers - the half is 'SoD' - is starting a campaign to encourage every medal winner in Russia to accept their medals and then indulge in a 'Big Kiss In' on the podium. There will be a special D&N platinum(*) medal cast and presented to any male athlete who can execute their sport dressed in a frock and high heels. This should make the ski jump competition especially entertaining to the ladies and, er, the lady-men! Come on, chaps and chapettes, if a couple of black guys can raise a fist for their cause, a mutual snog-in is the least you can do.
(*) Er, it will look like platinum but will probably be tin but, hey, you knew I used to be in the second-hand car trade, didn't you?
