Ok this one is a little off topic. I debated with myself about posting this, but in the end decided that if I didn't I was just hurting the kids I'm trying to help.
As those of you who follow me on twitter probably know, I'm running the Boston Marathon this year for a great charity. The Michael Carter Lisnow Respite Center is a wonderful facility that helps kids (and families) with disabilities. The Michael Carter Lisnow Respite Center is a non-profit organization whose mission is to create a home away from home for children and young adults with disabilities. The funds I raise contribute 100% to scholarships supporting families who are unable to cover the costs associated with assisted care. In many cases, the Respite Center actually employs people who are mentally and physically challenged themselves--a great benefit that gives them added self-confidence and independence.
I know times are hard for many of us right now, but I also know that (despite what the media would have you believe) preppers are good generous people and not hoarders waiting to tell the world "I told you so". Please take a minute to go read my fundraising page and, if you can, make a donation. Even $1 would be welcome...if everyone reading this blog did that, we'd easily reach our goals.
Thank you
Brian
