Let's Be Honest

By Thelazzyreader @thelazzyreader

I have a problem. For some reason, I can’t seem to find the motivation to read.
It’s so strange to me because when I was younger I used to read all the time. Regardless of how loud people were, I was still able to read without a problem.
If you were wondering, I actually have been reading. I'm actually on part three but I like this picture so I'm using it.
I started a routine for myself so that I can force myself to read every day. I read as soon as I get up in the morning. I would post about it but I don’t read enough to have content to share. What I can say is, I have gotten a little bit further in the book.
Additionally, I really like how I am able to get a taste of the personality of Tolstoy through his writing. He must have been a really funny person because he puts a lot of little jokes in the book that actually make me laugh out loud. At times, I read over the same sentence again because I get completely shocked that his humor is similar to mine.
For instance, one of Dolly’s kids was crying, but he said he wasn't crying because of his punishment (he wasn't allowed to have pudding). He was crying because of the injustice, HA! I almost cried when I read that sentence and I honestly read  that sentence 3 times. It was so funny that I had to take a pause. I was one of those kids who couldn't visualize their teacher having a life outside of school, so imagine my surprise learning that writers in the 1800s were just regular guys.
Whenever I read classical books, they’re always filled with so many difficult words and I’m always wondering why they can’t write simpler. It makes me imagine how they used to talk. It seems so strange to me that nobles would probably talk regularly using words like “hitherto” while peasants talked like how I do.
Nevertheless, I really am enjoying the book. The problem is the book is so big that I feel like I will never reach the end, it's so intimidating. I no longer have distractions, so I am committing myself to reading at least 10 pages a day. It’s not a lot but the last time I tried reading 20 pages, I failed horribly.
Also, I still keep my phone by my side so that I can look up difficult words. It can be annoying at times because I look up so many words but I also enjoy that aspect of reading classical books. I feel so smart every time I learn a new word, and I’ve learned a lot.
I don’t have anything distracting me from reading anymore since I finished watching all the episodes of The Wire. So, expect a new post soon, unless I find a new series to talk to you about.
For your record, I’m on page 312 of 963. I know … I have a long way to go. By the way, I’m still watching Young and Hungry and loving it!
Anyways, please share your experience reading classical books or reading any book really. Don’t be stingy with you thoughts! Comment below!
Sending you hugs and kisses :)
