Lesson 879 – Feathers and Time

By Wendythomas @wendyenthomas

Boy, are some of my girls looking a little ragged. I’m definitely looking forward to the molt season ending.

Of course, not all of it is due to molting, some of my girls are almost 5 years old. Time will do a job on anyone’s feathers.

I’m finding once glorious tail feathers that are now looking scraggly and showing their wear and age. Bums are popping out where fluffy bottoms used to be. And I’m discovering wing feathers haphazardly strewn around the pen.

I understand the necessary concept of out with the old and in with the new (and improved) especially right before the winter winds blow, but on these already chilly nights, as I tuck my feet under a wool blanket, I definitely feel for my scantily clad girls outside.

A reader, after reading my post, recently sent me these photos. She is a “Mammographer (Boobie Lady, Boob Squasher, Mash-matician, Boulder Breaker, Pancake Maker—as you can tell; I’ve heard them all)” and she made these cookies based on my post for her office.

In particular, note the “man-o-gram” that she designed.

Apparently they were a big hit.
