Friday’s Quotes for the Chicks
”Don’t worry about never having time to write. Just write what you can in the time you do have and give yourself a big clap on the back, followed by a double latte and a blueberry muffin.” (or an apple muffin)
Rachel Johnson
Even though these are adorable handmade paper cupcakes, pretend they are muffins because that’s what this coming holiday weekend is going to be all about.
Our local apple orchard opens its doors (trees) to the public this weekend and look out kids – there’s Apple Spice Cake, Caramel Apple Buttermilk Muffins, (go ahead and check those out!) and Curried Chicken with Apples on the menu. All things apple – not to mention a boatload of apple peels for our flock.
Not only will there be a lot of baking and cooking this weekend, but we have to make sure that the kids are ready to go back to school on Tuesday. (can I hear an AMEN?)
And then of course, there’s the annual “Practice getting up for school, the day before school starts” party where we wake the kids up at 6 a.m. the day *before* classes begin by banging pots and pans so they can come down and join us in a full breakfast and receive some final school supplies.
My kids complain, they protest, they moan about the party, but they also agree that it simply wouldn’t be the proper start of the school year without it.

As always, peaceful weekend everyone, health and happiness (and safety) to your flock.
