I’m sorry, I can’t hear you over the sound of my FREEDOM.

T. Nozell

Those of us in the “chicken community” will appreciate this one.

As a Library Trustee for our town, I walked in the Fourth of July parade in support of our local library. The parade committee wanted us to get dressed up as a character from a book.

My daughter Emma decided to be a character from a cookbook:

It was clever but boy! did she get HOT!

The character I chose to be was both literally and figuratively, a little cooler.

  • Hat? – check
  • Scarf? – check
  • Frizzy Hair? (thanks go to the humidity)? – check
  • Camera?  – check
  • Chicken? – check

All that was missing were some drawing pens and a computer on which to compose.

That’s right, for our town Fourth of July parade, I went as my good friend, author and illustrator Lauren Scheuer of Once Upon a Flock. I was very pleased to represent all of us chickies in such a positive manner.

Now, all I need to do is get my book written so that next year, I can go as myself.

As always, peaceful weekend everyone, health and happiness (and safety) to your flock.
