Friday’s Quotes for the Chicks
“That’s why God made moms.”
Wendy
Griffin is one of my computer geeks. He’s home after finishing his 2nd year at RIT and has hopes this summer of writing and publishing gaming apps. (If you don’t know what those are, no worries, he had to explain them to me as well.)
Griffin is not much of a nature nut. Unlike our survivalist in the family, Griffin would rather order out for pizza than forage for greens in the woods for a mid-day salad.
But a funny thing has happened to my high-tech boy. He discovered our baby chicks. When he needs a break from his computer, you’ll find him with grain in the palm of his hand playing with the new babies.
“One’s sleeping in my hand,” I’ll hear him call out. “Now one just tumbled over on his back.”
Our (now) adolescent Maran chicks sit in a nursery right next to the babies, completely ignored by Griffin.
“Why aren’t you playing with those chicks,” I asked him?
“The adolescents? No way, they’re ugly, too big for their bodies. They’re independent, they don’t listen and they won’t cuddle up to you like the babies. Mostly, they don’t want to play. And they’re so ugly only a mother could love them,” he joked me as he cupped one of the babies, his hand heat forcing it to quickly and adorably tuck in and fall asleep.
“Really?” I replied back, “imagine that.”

As always, peaceful weekend everyone, health and happiness (and safety) to your flock.
