This past weekend, Marc, Emma, and I went to the Northeast Poultry Congress. For those of you who may be unfamiliar with Poultry shows, think Westminster Dog Show but with feathers.
I’ve been going to the show for years to meet up with co-fowl friends, as well as to see and be amazed by all the many, many different kinds of poultry. Here are just a few photos from the show – prepare to be amazed.
Yes, there is a chicken in there.
Ever wondered what they meant by a “gaggle of geese?”
It’s the eye of the chicken (and yes, that’s me taking the photo being reflected in the pupil.)
This is a Cinderella goose, but I prefer to call her Sleeping Beauty.
Details from a turkey – I had to sit on the ground for this shot.
I found this in the Juniors section, apparently someone didn’t want her chicken to get lonely.
I call this guy “Diablo Chicken” – what a little devil.
The winning ribbons are almost as beautiful as the poultry.
You find a lot of cocky cocks at a poultry show (combined with a lot of crowing.)
And finally, even when you are at a poultry show, sometimes you’ve just got to do what it is you have to do.
