Friday’s Quotes for the Chicks
“Curiosity about life in all of its aspects, I think, is still the secret of great creative people” – Leo Burnett
This is a copy of a print sent to me by my friend; artist, Hazel Mitchell. If you’ve seen any children’s books, you’ve probably seen Hazel’s artwork. A busy woman, she’s always working on another incredible and magical project. Her newest book is “Imani’s Moon” coming in Fall 2014 by Charlesbridge/Mackinac Island Press. I’ve seen some of the art for this book and it is *gorgeous*!
Not only does Hazel enjoy all things kilts, (it’s a Facebook thing) but she is a supremely talented artist, with a good, compassionate, and humorous eye toward her artwork (and oh hey, look, this one has a chick in it.)
This is the second print I’ve received (Hazel flower print) and it’s just as precious as the first. I seriously have a thing about creative and original work – it floats my boat every time. Both of Hazel’s prints proudly hang in my office.
Hazel had wanted to get this print out before Easter, but shortly after she made the announcement, one of her dogs tragically died. This happened in the midst of her fostering/adopting another traumatized dog. Pain upon compassion. There is a special place for pet owners who lose and also for those who step up to the challenge of caring for the ones who need a little extra care.
“Sorry this didn’t get to you for Easter! Hope you still enjoy it. Best Hazel”
Yes, Hazel, it’s very safe to say, I do still enjoy it. Immensely.
Thank you very much.

Be safe and see you all next week.
