Les Chouettes in the 3rd: Another Startling Surprising Suberb Sunday Choice.

By Johntalbott

Les Chouettes in the 3rd is another place we ate at about a month ago and wondered if it would hold up; cut to the chase - it does.  The interior is stunning and the combination of restaurant/bar/lounge works very nicely.

Before serving our firsts, our genial wait-guy brought over 2 spoons - hummm, I'd ordered foie gras poele and Colette had ordered the soup of Jeruselem artichoke and chestnuts.  But all became illuminated when the foie gras appeared bathed in the broth of rich vegetables.  Both dishes were just right.

Colette then had the cod, confited in lemon, with what looked to be orzo, and I had a fine paleron of been surrounded by a puree into which were placed all sorts of mini-vegetables; quite lovely really when combined with the meat.  For dessert we shared the Paris-Brest which we had so enjoyed last visit.

Our bill with a bottle of Rhone, no bottled water, good bread and among the best coffeesI've had in Paris, was 102.60 E.
