Leprous are a Norwegian band who have toured with Agent Fresco and label mates Devin Townsend Project. They’re all set to release their fifth album, ‘Malina’, on 25 August. ‘Stuck’ is the second single to be unveiled from it and it’s a burst of guitar-led math pop that combines the riffs of Queens of the Stone Age with the no-fucks-given attitude of Meet Me in St Louis. It gradually builds up as Einar Solberg sings about being ‘insecure about what I will see’ before then pondering if hewill be overwhelmed.
This is followed by the repeated mantra of ‘I am stuck on mountains’ before the song dissolves into a prog bass-led breakdown around halfway through. As it kicks back into life, the vocals grow more histrionic as Einar first admits ‘I am stuck on mountains’ before then pondering, in a glorious falsetto: ‘Where did I go wrong?’
