On 9 th August, Lenovo launched the latest member of its popular K series. This latest smartphone is K8 Note and Lenovo is terming it as 'Killer Note.'

Speaking at the launch event, Mr. Sudhin Mathur, Country Head, Lenovo Mobile Business Group, India said, "We know that millennials expect nothing but the latest from their phones. Which is why the K8 Note comes packed with everything that our consumers would expect from a smartphone today - an eye-catching design, dual cameras, 10-core processor, great sound, and of course, the TheaterMax technology that is the hallmark of the Note series. It is also the reason why we have brought pure Android to the Note series, ensuring that the user gets total control over the device and their experience."

So let's check out the highlights of Lenovo K8 Note and see what makes it the #KillerNote.

Display:

K8 Note has a 13.97cm (5.5") full HD display. This display looks bright and crisp with excellent colour reproduction. It has good visibility even in bright sunlight. It is protected by Gorilla Glass and also has oleophobic coating. This coating lessens the fingerprint smudging on the display.

10 Core Processor:

Kenovo K8 Note packs a very impressive set of specifications, considering its affordable price. It is powered by a Hello X23 (MT6797) 10-Core platform, up to 2.3Ghz, 64 Bit processor. This processor has four cores that are clocked at up to 1.4 GHz, four cores clocked at up to 1.85 GHz, and two additional high performance cores clocked at up to 2.3 GHz. Complementing the power of this processor is the ARM Mali T-880 MP4 graphics processing unit. Together, these should ensure a swift an stable performance of the device.

Other Key Specifications:

This latest Lenovo smartphone comes in 64GB ROM/4GB RAM and 32GB ROM/3GB RAM variants and has 4000mAh battery with 15W Turbo Charger(™). It is a dual-SIM phone with a dedicated memory card slot to further increase the storage (upto 128 GB). K8 Note has Android 7.1.1 without any additional skin. So it will give users the pure Android experience. K8 Note is the first device in Lenovo's K series to come with stock Android. Stock Android means more security and less bloatware on the device. The device is likely to get at least one OS upgrade in future.

K8 Note Camera:

K8 Note is also the first device of Lenovo's K series that has a dual-camera at its back. At the rear of the phone, there is 13.0-megapixel primary camera and 5.0-megapixel secondary rear camera with more specialized depth sensing capability. Together, these two cameras can produce clearer photos with better depth of field (up to virtual DSLR-equivalent F/1.2) and bokeh effects.

The front camera of the device is 13 MP, with LED Flash.

Appearance & Durability:

Lenovo K8 Note is made from 5000 series aluminum which adds to its durability and sturdiness. The 5.5 inch FHD display is protected by Gorilla Glass. It is also splash resistant and can withstand some contact with water. Although, it is not waterproof so no dipping it into a swimming pool! It is available in Venom Black and Fine Gold colours. It has a fingerprint sensor which is placed at the back, under the camera. The front is protected against finger print smudges, but the back isn't. I noticed the back attracting fingerprint, especially in black colour. Overall, the device looks sturdy, stylish and is comfortable to hold in hand. Despite having an aluminum body, it is not too slippery and feels secure in hand.

TheaterMax and Dolby Atmos:

K8 Note has TheaterMax capability which gives the experience of viewing content on a large screen when viewed through a VR headset. It also has the enhanced audio expeirence of Dolby Atmos.

Music Key:

It has a customizable Music Key. This physical key can be used to manage the music playback. It can also be customized to work as a shortcut for other apps.

Lenovo K8 Note Review:

At first look, the device seems excellent considering its price range. It offers excellent set of specifications, comes with dual rear camera setup, gives pure Android experience, looks sleek, and feels sturdy in hand. Moreover, it has Lenovo's brand assurance. I believe, it should do well against the competition.
