Your Lego figures are about to begin breathtaking adventures with chariot races and gladiator fights. But first you need to assemble 9,036 pieces to create the Colosseum in Rome, "the largest Lego brick set ever to hit the market".
Architecture fans and Lego fans will find a lot to admire here. "This epic Lego model offers a recreation of the three different stories from the Colosseum, with each of those stories adorned with the pillars of the Doric, Ionic and Corinthian orders," Lego said in a statement Thursday when it unveiled the set.
The 9,036 pieces of the Colosseum snapped the record for the largest Lego set out of the 7,541 pieces Star Wars Millennium Falcon published in 2017.
Lego went to great lengths with the details of the Colosseum kit. Three brick colors give it an authentic look. Lego even counted the "ribs" that make up an important part of the spectator stands. There are 80 of them. After completion, the set is 27 cm high, 59 cm long and 52 cm wide.
"Hopefully the experience building the Lego model will inspire people to learn more about the original," said set designer Rok Zgalin Kobe.
Lego recommends the ambitious brick set for builders aged 18 and over. It will be available in Lego retail stores and beyond Lego.com from November 27th, Black Friday in the USA.
Such a massive set comes at a significant price. Lego has it listed at $ 550 (£ 450, AU $ 750).
