The words don’t quite flow with the original song lyrics, but every time I get on a plane I hum the ‘Leaving on a Jet Plane’ tune!
Four years ago, I attended Book Expo America in New York City for the very first time. So many things have changed since then – Book Con has been added, the Book Blogger Workshop has been deleted and even the conference name has changed to ‘Book Expo.’
Each year since May 2013 I’ve planned my BEA/NYC trip religiously, and every year something has prevented me from attending – one year my oldest daughter’s graduation was BEA weekend, one year it was financial reasons, one year I was recuperating from 3 hysterectomies (and that’s a story!) and last year was yet another crazy health scare that I go into way too much detail about here.
But this year? I’m drafting this post while in the air on my way to NYC and it feels almost surreal! Book Expo has been out of my grasp for four years – but this year? Watch out NYC – I’m coming for you!
I’d love to know – have you had a time where something was just out of your reach? and then it finally happened? How was that experience? My plan is to savor every single moment (including the rain!). Would love any hints you have as well – where to go, what to do, who to see!
