Recently, the report had circled about the removal of the SIM tray from the iPhone starting with “iPhone 15” in 2023. Shortly after that, Macrumor received an anonymous tip that Apple had been in talks with large US operators, advising them to prepare for ESIM Only a smartphone, arranged to arrive on September 2022. This information was confirmed by Apple Leaker @derlandkt reliable via Twitter.
Releasing the physical SIM tray from a smartphone does have several advantages of a manufacturing perspective.
