Doing what I do here on Slow Down and Savor, I receive quite a few press releases daily in my email from a variety of sources, (Which is awesome, keep em coming!) be it from restaurants, meal delivery services, event planners, etc. I love getting the chance to learn of new events, menus and the like on a day to day basis. Now, I don't always find that each press release I receive is appropriate or of any benefit to my audience, you guys, but sometimes one will come through that I just HAVE to share. And this is one of them.
Le Dîner en Blanc was first introduced to me when Michael and I were watching Top Chef Masters, season 4, episode 8. Basically, the chefs participated in one of the world's greatest underground dining events: a Dîner en Blanc. Each chef had to create a picnic style meal with abundant ingredients to create an epic feast and pack it up for the first ever Diner en Blanc picnic in Vegas. It was AWESOME. An exclusive group of guests show up at a secret-until-the-day location dressed in head-to-toe white, and come prepared with their own tables, chairs, utensils, glasses, and gourmet meal. Super interesting, right?
Well, guess what? A press release came through this afternoon that Le Dîner en Blanc will be coming to Baltimore, this Summer 2017! WHHAATTT!!! Check out all of the pertinent details below!

Le Dîner en Blanc began in Paris in 1988 when François Pasquier had the idea to gather friends for an elegant picnic. As the number of guests grew, he decided to hold the dinner in a public space and ask everyone to dress in all white to easily recognize one another. Nearly thirty years later, the event has grown into a sensation with over 10,000 Parisians participating each year. In 2009, the first ever export of Le Dîner en Blanc took place in Montreal, Canada, followed by a first American edition in 2011 in New York City. After its successful New York debut, Diner en Blanc International was created to bring the Parisian secret to more cities around the world. Le Diner en Blanc is now held in over 70 cities all over the world including London, Sydney, Hong Kong, Mexico City, Toronto, Washington DC and Los Angeles, with over 100,000 annual guests. Now, for the first time ever, Baltimore will have its own Dîner en Blanc thanks to local hosts Courtney Bryant, Hanna Cohen, and Candice Denise Owens. "Le Diner en Blanc is a truly unique event that embodies a spirit of elegance, creativity and community that we believe will speak to the people of Baltimore," states Cohen. "We are honored to have the opportunity to bring this world-renowned event to our city and to add a bit of Baltimore flair to the Parisian tradition!" To uphold Le Dîner en Blanc's tradition, guests must dress head-to-toe in white and are requested to bring their own portable tables, white chairs, white table linens, tableware, and a gourmet meal. A catered picnic basket option will be available for those who do not wish to pack their own. During the course of this unforgettable, guests will be treated to live entertainment and dancing.
