Latitude at Vivanta by Taj Pune had a Mediterranean food festival. The restaurant is spacious with modern sophisticated lighting & an open kitchen setting the stage for the meal to follow.
The entire kitchen is overseen by the Executive Chef Sachin Joshi . The cold mezze comprised of Hummus which was nice & creamy, Labneh Moutawmeh a hung curd & sundried mint dip which was refreshing & Mutable a Syrian roasted brinjal dip which was spot on smoky.
The hot mezze had Falafel which were light & not too greasy while the Panco crusted chicken was a big hit as it was crispy with subtle seasoning.
The show stoppers hands down would have to be both the mains Harrisa dusted fish with cauliflower puree & salsified pomegranate the fish was moist & succulent, while the cauliflower puree was mild, a complete contrast to the surprise element of the pomegranate, juicy sweetness gave way to heat from the chilli a total burst of flavours on the palate. The second main of Sheesh Taouk was chargrilled chunks of chicken in a creamy flavourful sauce which went down a treat with the cilantro rice.
Cold Mezze
Another surprise was the dessert the Tiramisu true to its name really needed no hesitation in being picked up . while the Baklava though comprising of a generous portion of nuts was a tad bit dry.
