Lateral Firefighter/EMT



The City of Bremerton is continuously hiring for Lateral Firefighter/EMT positions. This position requires both FireTEAM and CPAT testing.

Candidates must complete the City of Bremerton application in order to be considered.

Department Overview: Bremerton covers 9 square miles of developed land and 11 square miles of watershed. It is bordered by over 14 miles of saltwater beaches. There is also a lake within the city limits with over 2 miles of sandy shoreline.

A one hour ferry ride from downtown Seattle, Bremerton is truly a beautiful city. Guests enjoy the Kitsap Conference Center, two hotels, fine dining, coffee shops, cafes and the Port of Bremerton Marina in the downtown Harborside area. Job Requirements

Age: 21

US Citizen: Yes

High School Grad/GED: Yes

Valid WASHINGTON State Driver’s License: A valid Washington State driver’s license is required and must be obtained prior to date of appointment or another date set by the City.

Possession of and the ability to maintain a valid Washington State Driver’s License.

Vision: Must meet LEOFF standards. See WAC 415-104-595 for causes for rejection.

Academy Certification:
Yes

Prior Experience:
Completion of one full year of full time paid uniformed experience with successful completion of the agency’s training year’s program qualifies for lateral entry application.

Necessary Certifications:
Successful achievement of certification as a State of Washington Emergency Medical Technician I and one year uniformed experience is required for entry to the examination process.

A valid Washington State driver’s license is required and must be obtained prior to date of appointment or another date set by the City. Certification as a State of Washington Emergency Medical Service Paramedic and its continued maintenance is required prior to date of appointment

Testing Process:
The written exam and CPAT will be conducted by NTN. The top qualifying candidates will be invited to participate in an oral examination conducted by the City of Bremerton.

Applicants being giving a conditional offer must submit to a thorough background check; driving history, psychological, physical, and medical check; employment reference check; and verification of all applicable certifications. The City of Bremerton uses the “Rule of three” for hiring purposes.
