Xtina and Blake opened the show in the audience singing a country duet that was amazing. Xtina was dressed right. Sure her jeans were tight but her shirt and jacket were perfect to hide the droopiness. Xtina sort of reminded me of a shorter, stouter, blonder Cher.
Sylvia Yacoub started us off with "Girl on Fire". Not a great song for her, but she did a decent job.
Terry McDermott sang "Summer of 69" really really well, but I've been thinking for a while who does this guy remind me of and now I know...Mrs. Partridge.
Melanie Martinez, the girl I can't stand with the bow and the 1/2 and 1/2 hair sang a horrible version of The White Stripes "7 Nation Army". I don't think she can do much to make me like her. The camera was also way too close and I could see right up her nostrils and into her brain.
Cody Belew sang Beyonce's "Crazy in Love" Very Freddie Mercuryish looking. Horrible song choice...hated it.
Bryan Keith sang one of my favorite songs, "New York State of Mind". Hard to impress when I know the song so well but he did impress me.
Amanda Brown sang "Stars" by Grace Potter. I wasn't familiar with the song, but it was pretty powerful
Nicholas David sang "Leon on Me". He's a weird looking, weird moving dude, but I love him.
Trevin Hunt sang "Scream" just as good if not better than Usher. Hard to believe he is only 18 years old.
Cassadee Pope had the best performance of the night with "Since You Went Away".
Closing out the night, Dez Duron with a very croonery version of "Feeling Good". Not my thing but I honestly believe he could win on his looks alone.
And Now, it's time for Ed's Dancing with the Stars report... “I think you captured the flavor of the caveman!” – DWTS Judge Len Goodman.
This season has been all about the whistles and bells that the producers have come up with to keep the show relevant. There’s much I hope does not return but these fusion dances are clearly here to stay, especially after tonight’s performances.
Melissa and Tony’s fusion “Caveman Hustle” was a hit that helped get them to a 57.5/60 on the night. Melissa is the only one left who hasn’t won the mirror ball trophy – yet! She’s driven, and will be making it to the finals.
If Caveman Hustle was the fusion hit of the night, Shawn and Derek’s “Knight Rider Bhangra” was the fusion hit of the season! If you watched closely, you could see how much it was enjoyed from the judge’s table.Derek’s reputation and their 59/60 will get them into the finals.
After performing their “Big Top Jazz” to mixed reviews, Apolo and Karina had a great second dance, ending the night with 57/60.But it’s too little too late for Apolo. He’ll pack it up tomorrow.
Emmit and Cheryl are fan favorites. But they’re tied for last place (54/60) after an “Espionage Lindy Hop”.Rump shaking is not getting him to the finals.
Kelly and Val took off all of their clothes and splashed around in the water tonight for their “Surfer Flamenco”. I guess this is what fans of both Dancing With The Stars and General Hospital want to see. We’ll see them next week.
I’ll have a prediction on a winner for you tomorrow. And just like Melissa Rycroft who had a tear in her eye thinking tonight may have been her last dance, I’ll be quietly choked up as my WWTM blog assignment comes to a close next week.
It's official...I'm deleting my season pass for Start Ups: Silicon Valley. Watched last night, could have cared less about any of the cast.
