Thoughts on Last Shot

Characters – Nick Heirs has been released from prison, he knows the mistakes he made, he wants to make up for the errors and start a fresh, turning his life around, he turns to friends for a home, a job and a chance, which sees him struggling to deal with the changes on the outside, becoming a prime suspect in a series of murders. Aries is the strict parole officer that has seen men come out of prison only to waste their chance, he doesn’t have much hope in Nick in anyway. We have the two detectives that are on opposite theories on how to deal with the crimes in the area. We also have the people that have helped Nick get back on his feet and the ones that could have caused him problems in the past.

PerformancesCody N Carter does a good job in leading role, with the whole cast doing a solid enough job bringing their characters to life without shining on the levels they could.

StoryThe story here follows an ex-con trying to put his life back together where he gets a chance of new career, relationship and friendships, only for things to not go as planned as somebody has started to go on a killing spree, making him the prime suspect. This is a story that we have seen before, one where an ex-con is looking to improve his life after previous mistakes, only for things to not go to plan, showing that your mistakes could always catch up with you no matter how hard you try to fix them. Everything is kept simple, though we do get the big mystery about who is behind the murders, only we don’t get as much attention on that, to the levels we could do.

SettingsThe film takes us from behind prison, as Nick tries to get on with his life, in the same neighbourhood, where he ended up getting caught up in trouble before.

Scene of the Movie – The club fight.

That Moment That Annoyed Me – Not enough mystery about the murder.

Final ThoughtsThis is a strong look at redemption, it does show us just how important making up for mistakes is important, no matter how difficult it is to change for the better.

Overall: One Redemption Film We Have Seen Before.
