'Last Resort' Review - Submarines, Guns and Missiles Packed Together

Brand new TV series, Last Resort is the newest show that just got squeezed into my TV schedule. Just when I was looking for a change of pace from the ordinary drama, and action TV shows,  Last Resort came to the rescue with awesome submarine-packed action. Actually, I might even say its the best drama series of this fall. And I have a plenty of reasons to back that up.

In case you didn't get a chance to see the show, Last Resort is the ABC's latest military drama series which started airing on September 27. It's now airing every Thursday at 8.00 pm. Show evolves around a U.S. ballistic missile submarine named, Colorado and it's crew, who receives an order to blast a nuclear missile at Pakistan. Captain of the sub gets suspicious of this order and decides to go against it to save innocent lives by risking himself and the entire crew of the sub. This rational decision leads him to declare war against his own homeland.
Last Resort started airing with a big bang, thanks to its' intense pilot episode that I've watched twice already.   From the beginning to the end, it managed to keep me stick to the seat wondering what will happen next. I have to admit that I've never really expected this show to have a plot like this. It was totally unpredictable. Ever since I saw the early trailers and teasers, I thought this show to be just another US submarine saving the world from a nuclear attack. But in the end it actually blew me away.

Even though, there were not many gun-toting action scene's or any boat-racing gun fights, which I've expected to see on a TV show that takes place in the ocean, somehow it managed to live up to my expectations with the brilliant combination of characters and the delightfully surprising story-line. I really loved the captain (in a non-sexual way).  Andre Braugher was perfect for his part as the captain. This dude was a real badass. Specially his speech at the end gave me goosebumps.
Next episode has been already aired in the US. But sadly, I have to wait till next Tuesday to see it. And I can't wait to see it. If you're looking for a different kind of a TV series to rock this fall, then I couldn't recommend a better show than Last Resort.
