Both polls show that Bill de Blasio has a commanding lead in the mayor's race. The only question at this point is whether he will get 40% of the vote and avoid a run-off, or whether he will have to face Thompson or Quinn in a run-off election. Either way de Blasio looks like he will be the Democratic candidate for mayor (since he is far ahead of both his nearest competitors in proposed head-to-head match ups).
But the comptroller's race is a horse of a different color. This is still close, and either Spitzer or Stringer could win it. In fact, the two polls disagree on who is ahead. The Quinnipiac poll has Stringer ahead by 7 points, while the PPP poll has Spitzer ahead by 4 points. I guess the undecideds will decide this race when they finally make up their minds.
