Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar in Bagac, Bataan is one of those places you usually discover via social media. With so many picture-worthy spots, it’s not surprising why people flock to Las Casas for numerous photo opportunities. I can’t say I blame them, the moment I arrived at the resort, I already had a dozen pictures before we even reached our room.
Equally fascinating is the Las Casas heritage tour which is meant to be the highlight of the whole trip. There were a lot of interesting facts and stories if people care enough to listen. I do get thrown off when they start injecting sales pitches in the middle of the tour by specifying rental rates for whole houses or rooms but other than that, the tour was enjoyable. Just make sure to secure either the early morning or the late afternoon schedule because the heat can dampen your enjoyment of the tour.
Our Tour Guide
The only downside of this place are the prices – day tour rates, room rates and food prices, they’re all quite expensive. Day tours start at Php 1,500 per person, and room rates start at Php 6,500 per night during weekdays. There were four of us in the group so instead of spending Php 1,500 each for a day tour. We decided to book a room for Php 9,100 (weekday rate) for four which already includes the tour plus breakfast. The room was interesting (a bit creepy), and I preferred not walking along the corridors alone. But hey, it’s a one of a kind place, and it’s worthy of at least one visit. Just make sure your expectations are aligned and that you’ve set your budget accordingly.
Apart from the houses, Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar also has a swimming pool and nearby beach as well as a game room. It’s pretty easy to keep yourself occupied within the resort. For our group, however, walking around and taking photos were enough to fill our day.
