December's increase translated to only 277 extra sales across the segment. Compared with 2013, sales of these cars over the course of the 2014 calendar year tumbled by 4010 units. They formed only 2.6% of all passenger car sales in Canada in 2014, down from 3.1% in 2013.The top-selling car in the loosely-defined segment is the Chrysler 300, though 300 volume plunged 23%, the second-worst drop in the category. Together, the 300 and its Dodge Charger fraternal twin, the second-ranked car, accounted for 39% of all large, volume brand sedan sales in Canada in 2014.
Only one car in the class, the Buick LaCrosse, posted an improvement. And that improvement pushed the LaCrosse to just 1557 sales, making 2014 the second-worst full sales year for the Allure/LaCrosse line of sedans in their history.

Source: Automakers* Genesis refers only to the sedan, not the coupe. For Canadian purposes - Hyundai USA doesn't yet breakdown sales figures for the sedan and much less costly coupe - the Genesis will now be shown with both these volume brands, with which Hyundai is a direct competitor, and midsize luxury cars, with which the Genesis competes.
GCBC isn't here to break down segments, an impossible task for any group, but to display sales data for the sake of comparison. The more ways sales data can be displayed, the better. You can always find the sales results for EVERY vehicle and form your own competitive sets by using the All Vehicle Rankings posts.
