Lamborghini Gallardo Goes up in Flames in Delhi !!
Posted on the 04 September 2015 by Sampathkumar Sampath
Life is all about
comparisons….. when you are in a public transport, say a crowded bus 0r train – it is enviable to go free in an auto
rickshaw; nothing like owning a car – say a Maruti 800; then a sedan – a bigger
version – luxury segment car – imported brand, with people ogling at the car than you…….some top brands, which
we read in automobile magazines as top luxury would include – Aston Martin,
Bentley, BMW, Bugatti, Cadillac, Ferrari, Maserati, Jaguar … Lamborghini –
there for sure would be more ~and this post is based on an incident at
Delhi reported in many newspapers [no
hint on the quality of such vehicles – it was a mere accident]
Automobili
Lamborghini S.p.A., or simply Lamborghini, designs, engineers, manufactures and
distributes Italian luxury sports cars. Lamborghini's production facility and
headquarters are located in Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy. In 2011, Lamborghini's
831 employees produced 1,711 vehicles.
Manufacturing magnate Ferruccio Lamborghini founded AutomobiliFerruccio
Lamborghini S.p.A. in 1963 with the objective of producing a refined grand
touring car to compete with offerings from established marques such as Ferrari.
The Cars have an unmistakable emblem – the matador. The world of bullfighting is a key part of
Lamborghini's identity. In 1962, Ferruccio Lamborghini visited the Seville
ranch of Don Eduardo Miura, a renowned breeder of Spanish fighting bulls.
Lamborghini, a Taurus himself, was so impressed by the majestic Miura animals
that he decided to adopt a raging bull as the emblem for the auto company he
would soon found.
The luxury segment
is way above the reach of common man – priced very high than the ordinary
cars. They are impressive in appearance,
and also bristle with wide array of cutting
edge technology. Features such as lane keep assist, lane departure warning,
blind spot monitors, proximity sensors, and adaptive cruise control are
abundant; so also - Antilock disc
brakes, front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, driver’s
side knee airbag; collision prevention systems; Pre-Sense for automatic
seatbelt tightening and window closing in a potential frontal collision; blind
spot monitoring, a rearview camera, and front and rear parking sensor arrays; lane-departure
warning, frontal collision warning, frontal collision mitigation with automatic
braking – there seemingly are more !!
Luxury cars aren't
just paragons of class and style - they're also frequently used as test beds by
automakers looking to introduce brand new technologies and features to the
market. Apart from sumptuous leather
seats that power-adjust to fit you perfectly and quality interior materials –
they are weapons of luxurious ride and smooth handling. They link to your smartphone, and provide
navigational tools. There are a few
reasons for luxury vehicles' excellent crash-test performance: construction,
weight and features, though not necessarily in that order. Luxury cars are heavy and expensive to
build. ~and naturally not suitable for
middle class mindset who often see only economy !!!
Lamborghini
Gallardo is a sports car built by Lamborghini from 2003 to 2013. It is
Lamborghini's best-selling model with 14,022 being built throughout its
lifetime – there are reports of a Lamborghini Gallardo worth over Rs 2.5 crore
catching fire in Delhi.
A Lamborghini
Gallardo worth more than Rs 2.5 crore went up in flames at south-east Delhi’s
Badarpur area on Monday. The incident was reported at around 9.30am near the
NTPC complex in Badarpur, said a police official. The driver of the car,
identified as Sujan Singh (35), noticed smoke emanating from the rear side of
the car, which houses its huge engine, soon after he took a U-turn under a
flyover. Singh was taking the car for servicing at a specialised center in
Mohan Estate area. The car was registered in the name of one Satya Prakash,
reported to be a businessman, said the official.
The driver
fortunately got out and within seconds reportedly saw the vehicle going up in
flames. The cause of the fire is yet to
be ascertained. The car has been sent for a thorough analysis, the official
added.
Eerie occurrence,
especially in a high-end luxury car -
most likely the vehicle would have been insured ….
