Knitting Mayhem

By Marensmorsels @marentweets

Hey guys!! I’ve missed blogging so much this week. Here’s what happened.

My family came into town so that we could celebrate Christmas. My grandma had a knee replacement yesterday afternoon about an hour and a half away and she will go directly from the surgery center Christmas Eve to a rehab facility here in Salinas. We wouldn’t have been able to have Christmas on Christmas like we usually do so we had it extremely early. Needless to say it’s made Christmas last for 2 entire weeks instead of the usual 1 since I’m going to see Max’s family the week after Christmas. I <3 Family!!!!!!!

Cousin Elizabeth and I literally spent the last 2 days knitting………………. It’s been knuts!

So here’s what happened………….

Elizabeth realized that we both really like knitting (only scarves and various other warming accessories that come in rectangle sizes like turtle necks without the shirt, commuter cup cozies, and strange looking cuffs for wrists.) but that we were “Throwing” our knitting stitches.

To fix this problem we spend Tuesday afternoon watching YouTube videos on how to “Continental” Knit.

“Throwing” is how almost everyone I’ve ever seen knits. But “Continental” let’s you go a bijillion times faster and it looks super cool.

See (all you knitters) you hold the yarn in your left hand instead of the right…….. MAYHEM!

Elizabeth is much better at “Continental” knitting than I am. I’ll let you guess which one is mine.

So, after we both successfully could “Contiental” Knit we thought we should learn how I knit cables into our scarves and commuter cup cozies. So all day Wednesday we watched more YouTube videos on how to knit cables, which let me tell you is completely insane. you need 3 needles and I’ll assure you I do hot have 3 hands!

And…………… we mastered cables!

I think I’ve gone from an advanced novice knitter to intermediate level. Yep, that’s right!
