Kingfield Neighborhood's Sun Street Breads... Named One of the Best New Bakeries in America

By Homesmsp @HomesMSP

Minneapolis is one of the top 'foodie' cities in the nation, and our local bakeries are garnering national attention along with restaurants. Kingfield/Tangletown neighborhood's Sun Street Breads, on 'Eat Street' at the corner of Nicollet and 46th Street just west of I-35W has been gathering awards... including being named a Mpls St. Paul Magazine Best New Restaurant 2011 and Best Breakfast 2012 because of their biscuit sandwiches and biscuits and gravy.

An article  in this winter's Conde Nast Details magazine on the gourmet bread renaissance named Sun Street Breads one of the Best New Bakeries in America.

Solveig Tofte's fan-swarmed farmers'-market stand is all grown up, selling oat-dusted "lunchbox" pan loaves, granola wheats, and three types of rye from a cheery brick-and-mortar bakery-restaurant. Tofte mines her Norwegian heritage for inspiration—almond fyrstekakke, anyone?—but also celebrates America's bread tradition with rare and heirloom wheats from small farmers and millers across the country.

Co-owner Solveig Tofte was the head baker at Turtle Bread Company for 10 years so it should come as no surprise that her made-from-scratch artisan breads and pastries are delectably delicious. Come and find out for yourself, with breakfast and lunch available daily from 6:30 am to 2:00 pm, and dinner Thurs-Sat 5 pm -9 pm.

If you are looking for a walkable neighborhood scattered with delicious neighborhood coffee shops and bakeries be sure to check out Kingfield homes for sale and Tangletown homes for sale... Sun Street Breads street corner on the border of these two neighborhoods gets a 'Very Walkable' score of 72 from Walkscore.com.
