So, Kim Kardashian West was at the White House on Wednesday to discuss prison reform.
The reality tv star met with President Trump to get a presidential pardon for a grandmother serving a life term for a drug offense.
According to the Associated Press, Kim also met with White House staffers to shed light on Alice Marie Johnson, 63, who has spent more than two decades behind bars and is not eligible for parole.
Attorney Brittany K. Barnett, a member of Johnson’s legal team, said Kim told them after the meeting that it “seemed to go well.”
“It is now in President Trump’s hands to decide whether to save Alice Johnson’s life,” Barnett said according to CNN.
In an interview with Mic released earlier this month, Kim K said she’d been moved by Johnson’s story after seeing a video by the outlet on Twitter.
“I think that she really deserves a second chance at life,” Kim K told Mic. “I’ll do whatever it takes to get her out.”
I would like to thank President Trump for his time this afternoon. It is our hope that the President will grant clemency to Ms. Alice Marie Johnson who is serving a life sentence for a first-time, non-violent drug offense.
