Kim Jong Un Visits Syringe Factory

DPRK state media reported on September 24 (Saturday) that Kim Jong Un (Kim Cho’ng-u’n) visited the Taedonggang Syringe Factory.  Alsi in attendance were 1st Vice Minister of the People’s Armed Forces and Workers’ Party of Korea [WPK] Central Military Commission Member Colonel-General So Hong Chan [So Hong-chan] and WPK Organization Guidance Deputy Director Jo Yong Won [Jo Yo’ng-wo’n].

His first stop was to the rooms focused on the revolutionary and institutional histories of the factory.  Whilst looking at the historical artifacts, Jong Un “recollected with deep emotion the undying exploits leader Kim Jong Il (Kim Cho’ng-il) performed for the development of the factory” and noted that the “factory is associated with Kim Jong Il’s noble loving care for the people.”  He “called upon its officials and employees to add to glory to the undying feats of Kim Jong Il with signal successes in production.”

Kim Jong Un toured the factory control room, assembly shops and other production areas where he was briefed about manufacturing and quality control.  He issued tasks “facing the factory.”  Jong Un said that “the factory has very important duty” and underscored “the need for it to wage a dynamic drive not only for keeping the production going at a high rate but also for thoroughly guaranteeing the quality of products and turning out varieties of syringes.” He instructed “the factory to update it as required by the age of knowledge-based economic in order to increase the production of syringes systemically and produce various sizes of those products and needles for diverse uses as many as it wishes.”

He noted that “it is the Party’s intention to modernize the factory so that it may be a model and standard of the nation’s medical appliances factory” and stressed “the need to turn the factory into the world-level one producing syringes.  It is necessary to hold high the banner of the self-development-first principle, the banner of locally producing things in the work for updating the factory.”  He called for its “officials and employees to build modern technological processes with indigenous efforts and technology by pooling creative wisdom with scientists and technicians in the relevant field.”

Jong Un said the “level of medical service largely depends on how to provide medical appliances, the main means for preventive and curative medical care.”  He added that “the party would take necessary measure to ensure that more good quality syringes and instillators are produced so they may be sufficiently provided to the service members and civilians. ”  He called for “directing sustained great efforts to the work for consolidating the material and technical foundation of Chuch’e-based public health, the healthcare for the people, including the construction of more modern medical appliances producers on the cutting-edge scientific and technological successes so as to enable the people to fully benefit from the socialist healthcare system.”  Kim Jong Un expressed his “expectation and belief that the officials and employees of the factory would positively contribute to giving the fullest play to the advantages and might of the socialist healthcare system.”
