DPRK state media reported on April 1 (Friday) that Kim Jong Un (Kim Cho’ng-u’n) visited Sinhu’ng Machine Plant in Hamhu’ng, South Hamgyo’ng Province.  Also in attendance were Workers’ Party of Korea [WPK] department deputy directors Jo Yong Won, Hong Yong Chil, Kim Chang Gwang and Jong Sung Il, along with Vice Minister of the People’s Armed Forces Colonel-General Yun Tong Hyon.

Jong Un first stopped off at the plant’s revolutionary history room where he stressed “the need for the plant to conduct more efficient education in the immortal leadership feats of President Kim Il Sung (Kim Il-so’ng) and leader Kim Jong Il (Kim Cho’ng-il) through the room so that its workers can carry our with loyalty the Party’s plan for building an economic power with production of machines as pioneers and scouts in the building the economic power, always cherishing the noble intention of the great leaders who had shown loving care for them.”

He toured the plant including its assembly line, process and forging shops where he learned “in detail about the development and production of new products.”  Kim Jong Un expressed “pleasure over the fact that its officials and workers have made big strides in a drive to produce new kinds of high-performance machines as required by the Party.”  He urged the “plant to strive for developing more multi-functional machines of various kinds on the basis of its already-registered successes” and said “what is important for the development of the country’s machine-building industry is to thoroughly reject dogmatism and adhere to the standard of Chuch’e.”  He stressed that Sinhu’ng Machine Plant “should keep the production going at a high rate to satisfy the needs of various economic sectors for machines, fulfilling the assigned plan without fail and breaking the world level in the quality of products.”

Jong Un said that the “plant has a very important role to play in building an economic power” and issued instructions and tasks “for updating it to meet the needs of the age of knowledge-based economy and a highly civilized socialist nation so that it lead the country’s machine building industry.”  Kim Jong Un expressed his “belief that the workers of the plant would creditably discharge their heavy yet honorable duty by displaying the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance and fortitude to overcome manifold difficulties and inheriting the indomitable fighting spirit of the preceding generations.”
