Hello Metalheads! I bring you today a great Spanish Heavy Metal band called Kilmara, which has released an amazing new album entitled “Love Songs And Other Nightmares”.

Kilmara was formed in Barcelona in 2003 under the name Jadde in the early days as a band. These guys have shared stage along the years with bands such as Winger, Metallium, Enforcer, Baron Rojo, Saratoga, Los suaves and many more.

With three albums, as well as, three previous demos, these guys have never stop on the developement of Kilmara’s sound along more than ten years of history as a band, and they have achieved a more mature sound on each recording that they have made up to date.

The Kilmara’s debut album, entitled “Hounting Dreams”, was a self-produced Melodic Metal piece, made with great effort giving as result an interesting album highly influenced by Iron Maiden’s sound, as well as, the surrounding and heavy sound of Savatage, no doubt, this album was a good first introduction of the band in the metal world. Songs like the catchy “October Leaves”, the fantastic “Reclaiming The Past”, “Don’t Step Back” or the beautiful “Another Chance”, with the great collaboration of Nuria Martorell on vocals, are very good songs, which show us the early potential of Kilmara as a melodic metal band.

The second assault of the band was released in 2010 and it was entitled “Don’t Fear The Wolf” (…Don’t fear Chris… “Wolf”, Kilmara’s vocalist??? What?? haha, ok, I couldn’t help myself and the joke is now done, haha… I hope Christian Wolfgang forgive me… I have to tell that, far from being a wolf, I think that he looks more like a good wine… his voice gets better with age).Ok, let’s talk about this second album, which was recording and producing at Grapow Studios in Slovakia by Roland Grapow (of Masterplan and Helloween).

With “Don’t Fear The Wolf” album, Kilmara has gone a step further on their sound, showing us a good release in which you can enjoy great tracks like “You won’t Live Forever”, “Let Sadness Be Destiny” or “You Left Without a Reason” with Nuria Martorell collaboration again on vocals. “Blindfold” is another fantastic song or the catchy “Rock The Night” which really gives me very good vibes, oh yeah!! In general we can note an improve on this album, showing us a brand with better projection than the previous album. It is not surprising that U.K. label Rising Records decided to sign with the band and re-release the album at worldwide.

Ok, metalheads, Kilmara has recently signed with Sony and it has come back with a new amazing album with a title very suggestive. “Love Songs And Other Nightmares”, I think it’s a great masterpiece from these guys, after I had listened the album, I absolutely recommend you to check it out, it sounds really fantastic and Kilmara definitely have return more strong than ever. With powerful guitar riffs, catchy melodies, a great Wolf on vocals and interesting guests musicians making very good collaborations along the tracks of the album.

I have to admit that I like the album more each time that I hear it. Starting with the powerful track “Fantasy”, Kilmara downloads pure energy from the first second, John and Kike are fantastic on guitars and the guest Pilar Villatobas, from Resilence band, is really amazing with her gutural voices printing to this track a brutal aggressiveness as perfect complement to the melodic Chris Wolf, her anger is really cool… I never take it from where you get that voice… is there a demon inside you? Haha, great Pili!! Fantastic collaboration!!

“Devils Eye” is another very good song which I recommend you, with catchy chorus, great guitar riffs and the amazing guitar solo of David Muñoz as guest woooow!!

I really love the starting and developing of “The Break Up” song, Wolf is very cool on this track, as well as in “Cold Rain” in which there are another guest musician, Sergio on keyboard arrangaments.

I have to say that Chris Wolf is fantastic along the full album on vocals, and seems that all songs are really a true catharsis from him after his personal experiences…”Believe” is another good track that I like it, which gives way to the powerful “Nothing To Me” with great drums and John and Kike printing some more groove sound on guitars.

“Usual Strangers” is one of my favorites songs in the album, it’s intense and I have to say that I have seen myself reflected on its lyrics in more than one times. You can enjoy this song by clicking the following link.

And what about “Alpha” song, I think it’s simply a fantastic song with a fresh violin of guest musician Kaleb from Drakum band, printing a personal dynamism along the song giving as result a very cool track.

“Insomnia” and “Play To Win” has very good guitar riffs, definitely, John and Kike have made an amazing job on guitars along the album, they have catched me on each song. Closing the album we can find “Time Flies” with a new guest musician, this time we can hear to Dave Imbernon from Enuma Elish band, collaborating on keyboards, this is a nice track with a surrounding sound and also a very good guitar solo.

Ok guys, Kilmara is now on its best moment, “Love Songs And Other Nightmares” is absolutely an amazing new album, which I recommend you to check out. No doubt we are front a great heavy metal band with more international projection than ever, these guys have been working hard along their history as a band, and they have been progressing every day achieving a mature sound and forging their own Kilmara’s melodic heavy metal tunes.

I want to send greetings to John Portillo and Kilmara guys, great job!! I also send greeting to Carmen Suarez and Zombie War Management by their time and good vibes.
