One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them – here comes the NFC Ring!

Introduced with the well-known quote from the Lord of the Rings,  latest KickStarter project we announce today is the NFC Ring, a ring that aims to simplify our life and revolutionize our daily routine forever…and not only in the smartphone area!

The project called NFC Ring will change the way we unlock our smartphones, allowing us to forget about passwords and different unlock codes. This does not mean it is perfectly safe, but it still represents a viable alternative to alphanumeric combinations. The NFC Ring comes with two inlays – a large one on top that shares public information, and a smaller one on the bottom that transmits private data. When we say private, we mean information such as your device password; while public info varies from sharing your contact information, your website, links to pictures Wi-Fi password or other details that you might want to pass to your friends’ smartphones and tablets. NFC Ring can also be used to start apps with custom settings.

The ring, as you may have guessed from the name and it description is equipped with Near Field Communication technology, which allows you to transfer information and to achieve communication between different kinds of devices. How will this apply in the context of smartphones? Simple: placing the ring on the back of the device will unlock it automatically, without having to enter any code. This is easily done by using an application installed on your smartphone, which will then recognize the one and the only ring. The application can already be downloaded on Google Play Store.

What makes the NFC Ring so special is the fact you will never need to recharge it, so you can use it as many times as you want without the risk of getting suddenly stuck with an empty battery. But the feature that we would like to bring your attention to is something completely new: the NFC Ring can be connected to any other NFC-enabled device, so for example, the ring will also be able to open a door (you will only need NFC door lock)!

We know, at this point you’re probably thinking: yes, but how much will it cost? The NFC Ring amazes us once again: for only £22 ($33.61) you can get this cool ring delivered to your address and download the app from Play Store! The KickStarter has already doubled its funding goal, and it is believed that the Ring will be available from this September.
