Khawa Modak or Mava modak is very simple and easy to make. Everybody loves these Mava modak and enjoys festival mood.

I am also in festival mood and me and my son loves to eat sweets all time, so I have tried these Mava modak today and they turn out very delicious. Surprisingly, all our neighbor have come for Aarti and my Mava Modak was hit among them.

Mava can be prepared at home, but I bought readymade Mava because I have option of going to Chitale Sweet shop, my favourite sweet shop in Pune. And you can get modak moulds anywhere in Pune or thru online shopping.

1 1/2 cup Mawa / Khawa / Khoya
3/4 cup Sugar
1 tbsp Cardamom powder

1.Put grated or crushed mawa in pan on slow /medium heat. If using frozen mawa, grate it and then use it.

2.After 3-4 minutes, when mawa has melted, add powdered sugar. Mix it properly and turn off the heat.

3.Add cardamom powder and give it a stir. If you want yellow color to your modak, you could use drop of yellow food color here.

4.Cool this mixture in pan for 2-3 hours and then make a dough of that mixture with hands, so it will become soft.

5.Insert small mixture in modak moulds and press the mould .Mawa Modak is ready.
