What advise would your give to other artist/bands trying to get momentum in the industry? We are still a very new band, but I believe the main reason why we have been granted so many opportunities this early on is because we reply to every message, email, text message, and return phone calls! It is simple and worth every bit of effort. We also work hard to form friendships and mutual support among other local bands, promoters, and others in the industry. We have had so much help from discounts on merchandise, videos, and invitations to play shows come from friends we have made. What have you done in the past year that you would say has definitely helped your project grow? We talk to everyone we can at any show we play. We also do our best to attend local shows and support
Who writes the Lyrics, is it a group effort? Jason is the lyric guru. A lot of the songs besides Drive and Colorful lives are actually resurrected and rethought acoustic songs of his. Many of these songs are years old and sound almost nothing like they did back when they were first written. Drive and Colorful Lives are our newest songs and never had an acoustic version. However, we are planning to do an all acoustic album in the future. Besides social media, and flyers do you practice any unique methods of promoting upcoming shows? We try to bring our tickets and small promotional items such as post cards and buttons to parties, work, and other events including trips to music stores. We ALWAYS have our tickets on us and keep extras in our vehicles. We talk to everyone we meet about our upcoming shows. I once even sold a ticket to the Cinta’s guy where David and I both worked. We also have free post cards that we give out that have the bottom blank so that we can update it with our more recent shows and advertise those at our booth. Any shows that require online registration we are currently using a clip board for our fans to register at our booth, although come income tax season we will have a tablet available! What genre would you really describe the band as? This is a hard question! We struggled with it for a while because our sound is still defining itself. I really loved the way Kat Coffin from the Orlando Local Music Examiners page described us. She said that we were complex alternative rock with undertones of punk, metal, and pop. I’ve been using that because it honestly hits the nail on the head. We have a wide and diverse variety of influences and are not concerned about genre as much as how much we enjoy playing the song we are writing. Is there anything you would like to tell our Reader’s about upcoming events or new tracks? We have an exciting show coming up February 1st at the Gibson Room in downtown Orlando. It is an awesome opportunity for us! We are playing with three local bands (A Brilliant Lie, Blaine the Mono, and Anyone’s Guess) that we love and genuinely enjoy their music. We were flattered to be approached about this show which is actually Anyone’s Guess’s CD Release party. Coming up March 22nd we are going to be back at the Haven Lounge in Winter Park playing a show with Mad as Adam, Stroke of Midnight, and Brothers of Alien Rock. This is being put on by Urusei Shinjuku Promotions (connection we made at the Evermore Battle) and we are again stoked to be on such an awesome line up. Right now we are currently in the studio recording “Drive” with Dane, drummer who played drums for Raine at the Evermore Battle. Once the tracking is done for that mid-late January we will be shooting a music video with Will Marin and Angel Anaya DeLos Bernal of LightTwister Studios. We are hoping to use the video to promote our friends film production company and our kickstarter which will help to fund the recording of our full-length album.
In other words, there is a lot going on!
