"Close our eyes and took on the world together"
Kelsea Ballerini first made it to the country airwaves back in 2014, when she catapulted on to the scene with "Love Me Like You Mean It". The fast pace country tune climbed to number five on the US Country Charts and number three on the Canadian Country charts. Since then, the blonde star, has dropped a self titled EP and a full length album. Ballerini's first album "The First Time" was a mix of first love, and crushes to break ups and growing up.
Recently Kelsea released a single titled "Legends". The new single, has a more mature sound than "The First Time". Even more recently she released the music video for it. When "Legends" first hit the airwaves, you take it as a lost love story. With lyrics such as "We were golden we we're fire we were magic, and they all knew our names all over town". Tells the listeners a story of a couple, who were in love and happy. Though sung in past tense, listeners understand it was a failed relationship. However, instead of singing about the loss, the song is focusing on the good times.
Though when the music video was released a whole new perspective on the song came forth.
The Legends music video, takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions. Starting with the journey a young couple takes, from when they first met, going through rough times, to having a child and raising him together.
"Tragic and epic and so amazing"
The video takes a massive turn, when on their child's seventh birthday. The husband goes to pick up ice for his son's party. When he didn't make it home, the video takes us through all the flashbacks of their whirlwind romance. Nearing the end of the video, we find ourselves seeing into their present day, her son is graduating high school. When he crosses the stage, he looks out and see's his mom. He then signals to her a wave his dad used to give her all the time to show his affection.
The most incredible thing about what the director and Kelsea has done, is take a song and made us see it in a whole new light.
