Kaunas BC Teams into ‘A’ Div. Finals

Both Lithuanian Kaunas men’s and women’s basketball teams have booked their berths in the final of the ‘A’ Division at the Avant Super Cup 2022 organised by Colombo District Basketball Association and sponsored by the Avant Garde Group.

Colombo Bulls will clash with Kaunas men’s team while Track Masters BC will vie against LSMU Kaunas women’s team in the final encounters of Division ‘A’.

The strongest and most experienced Kaunas men’s team beat Avant BC by 77-70 points in the first semi-final match. Kaunas player M. Pokas piled up 20 points for his team during the game while Dominykas and Justinas added 14 and 16 points respectively.

The Colombo Bulls entered the final with a comfortable victory against Sri Lanka Army scoring 81-58 in the second semi-final. The Colombo Bulls obtained 44 points at the end of the first half while the sailors were 33.

The LSMU Kaunas women’s team qualified for the final match when they beat Blues BC in the ‘A’ Division’s first semi-final encounter.

The Penguins BC and Contenders BC will clash with each other in the final of the women’s ‘B’ Division.

Nugegoda Cagers thrashed Ananda Kings with a huge margin of 90-44 in the first semi-final match of the men’s ‘B’ Division to qualify for the finals. The Buffaloes BC will look forward to make a tough opposition against Nugegoda Cagers in the final while they beat Wagonz BC with a point of 72-50 in the second semi-finals.

The Blues BC was crowned as second runner-up in the women’s ‘A’ Division while they defeat Sri Lanka Air Force by 68-50 in the consolation final.

The Ananda Kings obtained third place in the men’s ‘B’ Division while they beat Wangoz BC 67-64 in the consolation final match.

The Grand Finale matches will be worked off at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium, Colombo on April 2.
