Katie’s Favorite Scents: Katie Smells

Today I visited our store on the southwest corner of Whitehead and Route 18. We have over 800 fragrance oils at our fragrance bar, and I smelled every one. Every. Single. One. All for you, dear reader. So I could tell you about my top ten favorite scents – Katie’s Favorite Scents. (I’m Katie; hi!)

Bacon

I bet you can figure this one out. We have a fragrance oil that smells like sweet, savory bacon. It doesn’t smell like REAL bacon, I’ve heard people say, but it comes pretty darn close. The only way it could smell more like “real” bacon is if it were an actual bottle of bacon grease. But who’s using bacon grease to make soap or candles when you can use bacon grease for BACON?! Man, I really want some bacon. If you want soap or candles that smell like bacon- this is your best bet.

Berry Bewitching Brew

Fun to say, even more fun to smell. Berry Bewitching Brew is full of fruity fragrances that are not overpowering- a hint of woodsy musk serves to balance the scent. Fruits in this fragrance include peach, apricots, and blackberries. This scent makes me think of a secluded house near the woods with the windows open. Perfect to use in homemade soap or candles if you have such a house. Or if you don’t, you can let it transport you to a place of peace. Almost like magic.

Iced Pineapple

Speaking of clean, fruity smells, how about some pineapple? All the smell of fresh pineapple without having to do all the work of cutting an actual pineapple. It may seem a little tropical or summery, but this scent smells great year round – like a vacation for your nose! This is another one of those mouth-watering scents that you’ll just want to bite into–but please don’t. If you feel so compelled, go out and by fresh pineapple, or canned pineapple.

Pumpkin Apple Butter

Let’s face it, unfortunately, summer is over for soap-makers and it’s time to start making soap that will cure by the Fall. Fret not, readers – I have found yet another delicious scent, but this one embodies autumn: Pumpkin Apple Butter. Do you like making baked goods with pumpkin? How about apple? How about butter? How about the smell of those delicious treats together?? No need to stick your head in the oven, this scent smells just like Grandma’s kitchen during dessert on Thanksgiving.

NG Baby Graceful Type

As a former professional sitter, lemme tell you, babies do not always smell great. In fact, they rarely do, if ever. NG Baby Graceful Type smells like the babies that dreams are made of. It’s fresh and clean with a hint of fruit and sweetness. And look at how cute that baby is in the photo. She’s a butterfly princess! What a sweetie. This fragrance will make you forget that real babies are loud and smelly, and instead invoke thoughts of cherubs who help you with housework. Can you imagine if real babies did that?

Smoke Eliminator

Okay, so this one doesn’t have the most flowery or imaginative name, but it smells great. Smoke Eliminator fragrance oil is loaded with lemon and lime to give you a fresh fruit scent. Like a refreshing lemon-lime soda. Even if you don’t need to eliminate the smell of smoke, a fragrance this strong could help clean air against other odors as well (wet dog? smelly cat? stinky babies?).  I’d call this another mouth-watering scent, but the cigarette in the picture is kind of ruining it for me. Don’t eat cigarettes.

Spearmint

Alright, reader. I’m going to level with you. I chose most of these scents because they hold a position near and dear to my heart. I love spearmint. Once upon a time, a certain company used to make bite-sized mint candies, and I would eat at least a pack a day. I cannot get enough mint. Spearmint helps stimulate brain function, circulation, and can even work to provide relief from digestive and menstruation issues. Plus, it smells nice and clean. Cooling, relaxing.

Rootbeer

Speaking of sweet treats that I once was obsessed with- ROOTBEER! This fragrance oil smells just like the real thing. Or- like the bacon fragrance oil- as close as possible to the real thing without actually being the real thing. Mmm. A nice, vanilla-y scent, this smell takes me back to when I consumed any and all things rootbeer-related. My younger sister was mistakenly under the impression that rootbeer was alcoholic and thought I indeed had a serious problem. (If you’re looking for the smell of actual beer – we have that, too.)

NG Vanilla Lace and Pearls

We have got plenty of vanilla-scented fragrance oils, but NG Vanilla Lace and Pearls is by far my personal favorite. As a child, I had a body spray that smelled very similar to this scent. I had one bottle and I saved it for only the most special occasions. This was the scent of the woman I wanted to be: a princess. Look at that picture – sweet and delicate yet refined and beautiful. Warm vanilla with a hint of sweet flower and musk. We also have a Princess Type fragrance oil, but I personally prefer lace and pearls.

Moonlight Pomegranate

Okay, so Moonlight Pomegranate reminds me of the body spray I preferred as a teen. More sexy, more mysterious, accentuated by the moonlight. Wildly inappropriate in context, but as far as the person you aspire to smell like, not bad at all. This scent is fruity yet spicy and even a little woodsy. Like eating a pomegranate in a moonlit clearing in the forest. Don’t believe me? Go try it during the next full moon. Wear a silky, dark red dress. Sweet, sexy, mysterious.

Katie Smells and So Can You!

Remember – this list is nowhere near exhaustive! These were just my top ten favorites, and I honestly had a very difficult time picking only ten. Stop on by our store and smell for yourself. We have over 800 scents – you’re bound to find one that you absolutely love. I challenge you to write your own top ten; it’s a lot harder than you’d think. Thanks for reading!
