Kate Spade’s funeral services are being held on Thursday in the late designer’s hometown of Kansas City.

A funeral Mass is being held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Redemptorist Church.  According to Kate’s father, this is the same church where Spade’s grandparents were married.

In lieu of flowers, Spade’s family is asking mourners to direct donations to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) or to Wayside Waifs, Kansas City’s largest no-kill animal shelter and pet adoption campus.

The fashion designer was found dead by suicide on June 5th in her New York apartment. She was 55.
